Default Adjusting governor

Well I decided I didn't like the way my governor worked with the zip tie on the spring. It just didn't seem to want to fill like it was kicking in and down shifting going up hills.

So I said what the heck it can't be that hard. (Wrong). That sucker is so touchie.
I started by looking and found the rod that sticks up out of the gear box had a small hole in it. The hole was aligned front to back, or 12 and 6 o'clock. I started by moving it from the 6 to 9 o clock. WAY yonder too much. The cart would have blown the engine if I had not let up on the pedal when it got to 25 mph. I tried moving the hole back to 7 o clock. Still way too much. Through trial and error the hole is maybe 1-2 thousands past 6 o clock. My cart will top out at 23 mph after it has time to gain the speed. The good thing is when I go up a hill it slows down but the governor kicks in and it feels powerful pulling the hill

I don't understand why I guess maybe it allows the clutches to shift but I like it better this way.

If anyone try's this adjustment. I used a small screwdriver in the hole and a 11 mm wrench. Loosen the nut and just think you are moving the screwdriver. That's all it takes.

One of these days I'll have to get rid of my zip ties and try that!

After a day at the golf course I'm not sure I like it this way. May go back to zip tie.

One thing I like about the zips...
if you don't crank them down tight, you still have the stock low rpm cruising, and yet still have higher rpms!

A friend has asked me about making his gas CC a bit faster. I see the zip tie pictures and figure he can't go wrong with something as simple as this. How much extra speed can be gained here, and is it considered safe for the motor? Any other info I can pass along?

Read the stickys at top for speeding up club car. They explain how to do the zip ties. Basics is you zip tie the spring until the rev limiter kicks in. Stop with the zip tie there. Then unhook the GND to the speed limiter. These engines will over rev real easy. If you stop at the rev limit you should be ok.

The trick is to balance between the throttle cable adjustment and the governor adjustment. I set them up where the engine can start and run slow enough to idle without engaging the clutch, but still run up to about 20 mph (on stock 18" tires). Takes a little trial and error, but to me the results are worth it. Customers carts, so I don't want to set them faster than that. I'd rather it not be my fault if they blow an engine. Besides, speed limit at our campground is supposed to be 10 mph.
