Default CC DS reupholster seats

I'm sure someone has reupholstered their seat's before?

I'd like to reupholster my 4 seats (front and back seat with backrests) on the cheap. I'm aware there are cover kits but I think they run $100 per front seat and $100 per back. $200 total.
I was considering using Joann's fabrics marine vinyl to reupholster the seats will this work? (54 inches width x 1 yard = $20) I have a coupon for 55% off and I'm thinking about 3 yards will do all the seats?

Also how much vinyl did you use to do all the seats?

Do your seats look as good as the pre made cove kits?

Sorry for so many questions in one thread.
Thanks for your input.

I don't know of anyone who has reupholstered their seats with regular material from a place like JoAnn's.

One thing I'd be wary of is the durability of material you're going to use. You don't want to spend all that time doing this and then the material rips as soon as the dog jumps up onto it, or the fabric weakens over the course of a year or two because of either the weather, or from just normal wear and tear. The pre-made seat covers are made with material designed to last.

*edit: I just read that you're going with marine vinyl...you should be fine.

Look on ebay, seat covers can be had for a lot less than $200

3 yards will cover it all with some left over.

Just did mine. All three seats with back and three colors I chose for $220 shipped. There is a guy in Tampa Fl that sells on eBay. They make them and ship in two weeks and uses marine vinyl

I have bought the marine vinyl from the type place you are talking about. Learned this: the pure white they sell shows EVERYTHING. Cannot keep it clean. And, unless you are a professional at this, without the tools and training, they will look like crap. Do what chevy 72 said. Buy the kit and install it from there. Take your time, have a good staple gun and staples. Works best on warm sunny day outside, have a firm spacious table for a work surface. Just my humble opinion.

They turned out nice and fit well. Laid them in the driveway to soften them up. They sent new corner filling with them incase you need it. Pneumatic staple gun and a couple hours and you're good

Easy life covers. Reasonable, especially if you chose a single color. A LOT of colors and very stand up people.
