Smile 341cc valve cover

i have searched again for this but came up empty.does anyone know for sure which way the vc gasket goes,big hole at top or smaller hole at top?mine had a homemade gasket when i tore it down and my 3 parts motors are installed different ways.thanks

Can you post a picture? I'm having trouble visualizing what the "vc cover" is on these flathead motors (I assume you mean "valve cover"). I have one motor in my cart and two in my basement.

i,m no good with pictures but some people call it a tappet cover,behind carburetor with vent hose in it.

I actually confirmed with the shop manual. Looks like the wide hole goes on the bottom. Does this answer your question?

thanks,i actually jumped in the truck yesterday morning and went to a club car dealer we deal with at the shop and he said the same thing,wide hole on the bottom to drain the oil back.i got the old flat head done yesterday and we all rode it right till dark last night.thanks again for the help.
