oldgoat your probably right and this is why so many ezgoers take it off and premix fuel.Disconnect 1 cable and insert 1 screw and you have piece of mind knowing it isn't going to spoil your fun. I might add though it is or was an 89 and it may have been just a fatigued bearing but after rebuilding I would get rid of the oil injector.

Sadly the first symptom of the oil pump letting go is ......... well I guess you know that now. Not that it helps but that is the reason most guys remove the oil system ond simply mix their oil and gas by hand and pour it into the gas tank. The bad news is that your engine is now FUBAR. The good news is that for less than $400 you can purchase a top and bottom end repair kit and you will have a great little powerplant.
If you go that route you need to know if you have a 2PG or a 3PG engine (1989 was a changeover year). It is easy to determine by looking to see if your clutches are across the cart (2PG) or aligned front to rear (3PG). Also the muffler stands up on the 2PG and lies down on the 2PG. If you do rebuild and premix your gasoil the first tank should be at a ratio of 40:1 and thenceafter at 128:1 (which is 1 ounce of oil to 1 gallon of fuel)
If you need help on rebuilding just shout out, there are many guys here who have trodden this path.
Good luck
Dave
