Default '96 EZGO - slight power loss up hills

Guys, getting the bugs worked out of the new cart. I notice on steep inclines my cart tends to loose power whereas other gas carts I've been in dont.

Any ideas what I should look at. Rear axle is not slipping but wondering if there is a drive belt adjustment or such. Thanks in advance!

Have you adjusted the valves?

StoveBolt, I have not adjusted the valves. Never done that - can you guide me through what to check?

follow these instructions. they work perfectly. just make sure the engine is cold. while your doing all this, go ahead a do a full service, oil change, plugs, air filter and fuel filter. i started running full synthetic royal purple oil in mine. the motor runs cooler and i dont hear the valve chatter near as much as with conventional oil. i also noticed that the oil stays on the valves even after sitting for a couple of days, so im not having dry starts. standard oil dont stick to everything like the synthetics do.

Follow blake's link... and make sure you're on the bottom of the cam lobe on the lifter you're adjusting.

15 minute job.
