Questions on EZ GO wiring to the Starter
I recently purchased what i believe to be a 1977 EZ GO gas golf cart that has had some wiring alterations made to it. I'm new to carts so this may be a dumb question. Someone has replaced the micro switch (which is broken and has no linkage conecting it to the accelerator pedal) with a push pull type switch. The clutch was stuck when i got it but i was able to get it to start and run however if the motor stalls out the starter is running or begins running (i can't tell which for sure). I'm unsure if this is normal. I would assume on a cart with the micro switch connected to the accelerator once the motor starts the starter becomes the generator. So i guess my question is, is when the motor starts is there something in the electrical system that cuts power to the starter and the motor stalling out then should cause the starter to attempt to restart it as if you had the accelerator depressed. I hope this makes sense. Thanks Kirk

Re: Questions on EZ GO wiring to the Starter
HI, I would replace the micro switch and put the cart back the way it should be!!! with using the switch you have now you have to let off the pedal and turn off that switch, to stop the cart, the way it should be is when you push the pedal the cart starts and when you let off it stops,

Re: Questions on EZ GO wiring to the Starter
and to answer the second part of the question, no there isn't. The starter is just a 12 volt motor however when you turn a dc motor it becomes a generator, so when the engine fires it turns the motor and charges the battery. Simple but true.
