G1 keeps popping clutch side seal
Well it's been a while since I needed engine help for my G1, but this has me stumped. While running, the clutch side seal pops right out when under heavy throttle. If I keep the throttle easy and don't floor it, it stays in there and runs like always. Has anyone ever heard of this?
The seals are 2 years old, haven't had any issues since. It's been running great. It does have an Enticer 250 top end on it, but I wouldn't think the compression is too high, it's still only like 7:1, fairly low compression like the G1 top end. I'm guessing I'll have to replace the seals? |

When I did the seals on the 82 g1 I had I used red loctite on them before I installed them something I use to do in the marine industry on prop shaft seals. Never had an issue I had to replace them because the clutch side was popped out and the fan side was shredded.

No oil pump, removed it. Running premix at 85:1.

Crank seals are a one-time-use item. If they ever come out, replace them. Use a little loctite on the OD of the seal. Also, make sure you oil the rubber before installing it.

Re: G1 keeps popping clutch side seal
Did you remove your oil pump cover when you deleted the oil pump? If I can remember correctly..after the seal is installed the inner oil pump cover is bolted back on the casing holding the seal in place so it can't come out. Just a thought....
