That seems a bit low. You should be able to top 4000 RPM's without too much difficulty, if the governor has been bypassed.

Governor is all the way zip tied as much as it will go. This new style clutch just doesnt seem to have the overdrive and allow the engine to rev as much as the 07-2011 clutches did. The new clutch setup is a heck of alot smoother though. Plowmans is hopefully working on a kit for me.

Anything under, topped out at full throttle.

DB, I drive a lot in town, so I'm close to topped out all the time. But I don't drive at full throttle. I back off the throttle so its not on the floor. I GPS's it years ago, and what sounded like a comfortable speed RPM wise, was about 22/23 MPH. I don't stay at full throttle, with the motor topped out (meaning, not gaining anymore RPM), more than about 3 to 4 seconds. That's about 27 to 28 MPH with 21 1/2" tall tires. The gov has been bypassed on my car, and the top of the gas pedal shortened about an inch, to achieve full throttle opening.

Hope this helps!!

I dont hold full throttle long at all either. My 09 g29 at wide open throttle you could tell that the engine was revving alot higher than the 2013 g29 i have now with the governor zip tied the exact same amount. The 09 had more top speed and i did put a stiffer secondary spring in the 09 for better bottom end but it was just so jerky on takeoff due to the bad design on that clutch setup. Plowmans should be able to put some pep in this cart soon.

Is it possible that your tach is in error? According to the formula for calculating speed, assuming you have the stock 12:1 gearset and a 24 MPH speed, your RPM should be just shy of 4400 give or take. If, for some reason, you had 8:1 gears, your WOT RPM at 24 MPH would be just a bit over 2900, which would make some sense, but it would also mean you were overloading the engine and it would not have much power on hills, and it also would not explain why only 3800 RPM in neutral under no load. My money is on tach error.

Could be tach error ill try redoing the wiring around the plug wire and see if it makes a difference. Just by the ear test this new cart is quiet as a mouse as compared to the 09 wide open. Im wanting to get more power in the bottom and midrange since that is 90% of my riding and working speed. Hopefully don can dial it in for me.
