Default 2007 EZ Go ST Sport II - Educate me

I have a neighbor trying to sell me a 2007 (he thinks) EZ Go ST Sport II with a plastic dump bed. Serial # 2546509

It is well used and will not start. He says before it quit running it ran better and faster than ever, like the governor wasn't working.

It cranks but is not getting any fire. The engine is a Subaru.

I have had several golf carts but never a gas EZ Go.

I do not know anything about them. Is this a good engine? How much H.P?
Thoughts on why the governor quit working and know it wont start?

Thanks, I appreciate the help.

They are good carts. The 2007 had the Robbins/ Subaru engine. This engine was updated in 2004 and is called the MCI engine.
Not sure about it not firing ? Did you actually check it to see if the spark plugs were firing ? or just mention it because it won't run ?
Be warned that these engines can get expensive to repair before you buy this cart.
Engine is 11 hp engine.
Can you repair it yourself ? because like I mentioned it can get $$ quick
Is this cart clean with good tires ? and has a top ?
According to what part of the US you are in but around my area these are highly sought after carts. I actually own one myself and love it, at least my wife loves me for getting it fixed up for her . Great for yard work as this dump bed is quite easy to lift with a new lift shock

I pulled a spark plug and it is not getting fire, the owner kept saying he thinks it is the coil pack, but he is just guessing.

I am also concerned about him telling me it ran better than ever before it quit. He thinks something happened to the governor, any thoughts?

I can work on it my self as long as it does not get too involved.

Usually an engine runs best as it's running out of gas. It's because the mixture leans out until there isn't anymore fuel.

I'd say it all depends on the condition of the cart and the price. They're good carts, make good power and the big dump bed is really handy. Mine was a 2007 or a 2008 and it had the power dump bed.

Coils arent exactly cheap if thats what it is, but could be a lot.of things. Unfortunately wont really know until you start digging in.

Just to let you know that many OEM parts are no longer available for this cart unless a dealer has some in stock which most don't. When it comes to ignition parts I always recommend EZGO so do your homework before paying a lot for this cart. Aftermarket parts are like throwing dice

cart around is correct on what he said. You ever been running a lawn mower or chain saw just before it runs completely out of gas. They sing
The governors are rock solid on these carts but it could have been the issue if someone had been messing with it to get more ground speed.

I can work on it my self as long as it does not get too involved.
If you don't believe it could get involved just read here on the problems people have with gas carts. I keep spare parts to try in case I have one that won't fire so I don't have to throw money at one and it be a waste.

My 06 was pretty solid when I was using it. I recently did a rebuild because it sat up for 3 years. I was able to locate the parts that I needed but I did have to shop several sites. After it was all said and done, I'm happy with the rebuild. I'm definitely no mechanic but if I can pull it off, anybody can.

Is there a way to check the coil pack?
