Slow boat to China!
Hey guys,
I need some help. I am tired of getting passed by other carts at the lake. I know I have read some threads of motor swaps, etc. I have a 99 CC 48V Tourall 4 passenger. I really would like alittle more top end power (not much more) and mainly hill climbing power. With the cart loaded, it will barely climb the hills on the road. I don't have an unlimited budget, but I will spend some on it. Your thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated. We are loving the cart, it is just too S L O W.... Thanks Todd |

Thanks for the prompt reply. I have some mechanical knowledge (not much) with a little help I can do the work myself. I was wondering about motor upgrades, I had visited the D&D website. GO TIGERS!!

Re: Slow boat to China!
Replace your controller with one in the minimum of 500 Amp area and get a "complete" 4 gauge cable setup. You will be happy with this, it will really increase your torque. nAd then later if you want to do a motor upgrade, you will be all ready, as any motor upgrade would require this stuff anyway to get its full potential.

Re: Slow boat to China!
It's like knocking over one domino... first I just want a little more torque...well, how about that nice shiny motor...well, ok a 500amp controller will be sweet... might as well do cables too...but now I need a HD F/R switch... just a new HD solenoid to be safe also...seems like the cart needs a little paint job...can't keep those dingy tires, kids can go to public school... would look silly without a nice lift... then when you're all done you can do wheelies and even post 'em and some yahoo will show you a nice cart picked up for "only" $3500...
...jus' sayin' ya' know...it COULD happen... |

Ever so true Extractor - I defined my 'initial' budget to be $1500-$2000, and lets just say budgets can seem sooooo mundane and restrictive, like you were a child again Im leaning towards not even adding mine up at all when I'm done because society and wife can make you feel bad

Re: Slow boat to China!
Before you spend a penny, check all the Batteries . Make sure Batteries are reaching
Max charge and not fizzling under load (up hill). Check each battery 30 min after charger switches off, check entire pack voltage at the same time (see how much is being dropped by old or small cables) |

Re: Slow boat to China!
On my 95 Club Car, I switched all of the cables at the batteries to 4 gauge cables, I then changed the cables from the battery to the solenoid and from the battery, through the OBC to the controller to 4 gauge, and it has made a huge differance. Definateley on the hills at the lake.
Good Luck. |
