2005 CC precedent cable question
recently purchased a 2005 club car with 2008 batteries. Put a 6inch lift with 23 inch tires on 12 inch wheels, added rear folding seat and headlight kit. The cart has been programmed to number 4 for speed and drives good on flat surfaces. I do notice quite a loss of power when going up inclines/hills and realize that is to be expected having to turn the larger tires. I read where some replace the cables with 4 gauge and say they get some more torque which I would think would help with the hills. Does replacing the cables on the batteries alone help or do I need to replace all cables to 4 gauge and how hard is it to do this? The battery ones of course would be easy just wondering about any of the others and does it really help before forking out the money for all of them. Not looking for drastic increase but any helps.
The cart is just used to cruiz the neighborhood here in Augusta Ga. Thanks for any input. |

Re: 2005 CC precedent cable question
Question does your cart have 12 volt batterys, and if so you could be on way to replacement time depending on previous care? WE are seeing 12 volt batterys lasting from 2-4 year max, depending on care and usage? Yes going to larger battery cables will help with torque problem, that in part you caused by going with a lift and larger diameter tires, rear seat, windshield, etc? To get a torque gain replace 6 guage cables with 4 guage ( ONLY USE HIGHEST COUNT AVAILABLE of MULTI-STRAND WELDING CABLE AND ENDS ) requires that ALL 6 GUAGE EXISTING CABLES BE REPLACED BY 4 GUAGE. If you only did battery cables it would be like putting a kink in a water hose.
If you have 12 volt batterys you should consider the change over to 8 volt batterys for more TORQUE, range and life and of course replace with 4 guage cables. |

Re: 2005 CC precedent cable question
Thanks for the reply. I currently have 4 batteries so I assume they are 12 volt. So switching to 8 volt would help? would I be placing six 8 volt batteries instead and is there some conversion that needs to take place to do this?
Im pretty happy with the speed it has today just hitting the hills it realy crawls. Also is it hard to change all the cables or pretty easy job? |

Replacing nyour batteries is good thing. Takes about 4 hours to put in the kit from CC. Much better system then 4-12 volts

Re: 2005 CC precedent cable question
I want to buy the 4 ga. cable and make them myself. Does anyone know how many feet of cable would be needed to rewire a 2004 precedent? It has 4 12volt batts.
