Re: 1995 drive clutch does not disengage
Taking the clutch off a TXT can be a challenge. MOre on this if it becomes necessary. This unit is nearly bullet proof. Are you certain some one has not installed a shorter belt..... you are describing typical short belt shift syndrome.
The belt should about 3/4 to 1 inch deflection in it at rest. It should ride on the Driven clutch center shaft and you should be able the slide the belt around the clutches by grasping the top and bottom and pushing you hands in opposite directions. |

Re: 1995 drive clutch does not disengage
If you look at the outside of clutch where the bolt and washer are there is roughly a half an inch of shaft where the outer half rides. This makes the belt tight between the halves. This cart is lifted so is it easier to undo front mount to get clutch off or pull the motor.

Re: 1995 drive clutch does not disengage
You shouldnt have to do either, that clutch will come right out of there if you get a clutch puller, and yes you are right, you should not have any shaft sticking out when the engine is not running

Re: 1995 drive clutch does not disengage
Well I finally got to work on the cart. With the lift that it has I wasn't able to easily get the removal tool into the clutch. I decided to take it apart on the cart. After pulling the outside plate and cover I found that the spring was ok but two of the weight were not moving easily or they were stuck. I spent a half an hour and was able to get everything free. I put it back together. It works great now. Thanks guys for the help. These clutches are pretty tough.

Re: 1995 drive clutch does not disengage
The Clutch hold down bolt lines up perfectly with the frame rail. In my experience the some of motor mount bolts need to be removed and the motor tilted up on the drivers side with a floor jack in order to use a clutch puller or much needed air tools.

Re: 1995 drive clutch does not disengage
Before the lift if a heavy friend stood on the back it would clear but now with axle under the springs I can remove the retainer bolt but the tool hits the spring perch. It wasn't bad to disassemble on the cart and all is well now. Thanks for all the help!!!
