Default identifying this part.

I've got a g1 (haven't found numbers yet so dont know year) but I've been working on getting it road Worthy and redone. I was adjusting carb last night and saw this black thing and have no idea what it is. Can anyone help me with what it is or what should be hooked up to it.

Negative if you follow it towards the front of motor it goes to the exhaust butterfly a lot of people bypass them you need to wire it wide open or better yet remove it all together

Ok so if it's unhooked all together and just spins we're good

There is usually a rod going from that side to the exhaust butterfly inside the exhaust manifold you'll want to make sure previous owner took it out and didn't just unhook it

So I've look and I'm sure I'm just not seeing it but where would that butterfly be in relation to the black linkage? This pic is of the front
