Default 88 club car solenoid question

I have a 88 36v club car resistor style cart I just bought. The solenoid is bad on it and I am not sure the one that is on it was correct to begin with. It had the 8016 on it and it says on the solenoid that it if for use on mutli solenoid speed systems, it this ok to use or do I need the other 'tower' style solenoid? thanks Tom
