Default 04 Club Car DS FE290 belt installation

Hello all! I've got an 04 Club Car DS that I'm trying to install a new drive belt onto....and I'm having a helluva time. I was able to roll the old belt off with no problem. I cannot get this new belt to roll on. It seems too short, but the seller assures me it's the correct belt for the FE290. The OD is 37".

I posted a question on a FB group and someone there suggested that I pry out on the drive clutch and use a 1" thick block to hold it open. He said the belt would be easier to get on that way. Does this make sense? I just had the body vinyl wrapped and this belt is the only thing holding me up from finishing the body install.

Any tips? I'm frustrated

What kind of belt is it? Part number and Brand? Where did you buy it?

The FB guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

A new belt, especially if its a heavy duty belt can be much more difficult to roll on, but it is doable. We just need to make sure that you have the correct belt first.
