Default 05 DS gas pedal play

I attached 2 pictures indicating problem. The gas pedal doesn't completely reset so I cannot set the parking brake without grabbing the pedal with my hands and pull it toward me so the brake will engage.
Have you seen this? the fix?

Could be several things.
Mis-adjustment or bent throttle linkage rod.
Worn or mis-adjusted throttle return spring.
Worn brake pivot blocks, which would move the park brake latch further way from the ratchet.
Or wear or mis-adjusment of the parking brake mechanism.

Thanks for the info. Wish I had some new parts to be able to compare to the old parts and see what could be bent.
Not exactly sure how to disassemble that mechanism because everything wants to move when turning the nut on the backside of the spring.

Yeah the plastic will break if you try to just force it. Reach in through the spring with some vice grips and grab the metal rod somewhere in the middle. Then you should be able to hold the rod from spinning and crack the nut loose.
