Default 88 G2 Gas. Runs great sometimes.

I have a stock G2. I have had it for about six weeks, and it's my first.

It will run great most of the time and then start spitting and sputtering and even backfire on occasion. It may do that for ten minutes and then start running fine again. I can usually put it in neutral, and it will run fine. When I put it in forward it starts spitting again. It doesn't seem to do it as bad in reverse.

Next problem. When I push the accelerator it takes the cart up to 3 seconds to begin to try and start most times. Sometimes it starts right up.

I have to keep the choke out all the time for it to run. I have read here that it's usually airbox or a cracked carb spacer(I think that is what it's called). My airbox isnt' great, but I think I have all of the leaks taped up temporarily. I have to take the carb off and check the spacer.

Before I tore into anything, I wanted to ask opinions here. Could all of these problems be from one thing, or do I have multiple issues? Thanks for any help.

Start with an air tight air box and check the carb spacer for cracks.

I installed the new airbox and carb spacer today. That took care of the choke problem.(Thanks New Guy). I still have the other issues though. I checked my battery today, and it showed good. Any suggestions?

Check and clean the micro switch under the gas pedal.
