Default pulling the hubs on an old 3 wheel Ez go

I would like to start by saying hello to everyone here. This being my first post.
Now my question, I recently purchased an old Ez go 3 wheel cart. I paid 100.00 bucks for it. It does run but does not have brakes. I tried to pull the hub off using a gear puller but it really had alot of tension on it and I did not want to bust anything up. I think its a 1979 as by the serial#79C17 I67368.
It does have a keyed axle. now do I have to keep reefing down on the gear puller to get the hub off or is there a better way? Open to any suggestions.
Thank-You in advance.

Welcome to the fun house.

Is the hub and drum all one piece? If not Pull the drum off first. Usually a couple of good hard raps with a big, I mean BIG, hammer will loosen it up enough to get it free.

Either way the gland nut comes off then it comes loose from the axel. You might want to try a god old fachion axel puller, if a buddy has one you can borrow or go to Auto Zone and see if you can rent one there. I have seen some very stuborn axels come out of full sized cars like this. (thanks Dad). Hope this helps, be sure to post how you get it in the end. That is just a part of what this site is all about. Finding ways to accomplish something and sharing it with everyone.

Big dead blow was the way to go. Put tension on the gear puller and then let the big dawg eat. Thanks for the info.
