Default ezgo backfire

my ezgo marathon (1985) is backfiring quit a bit any fixes?

Usually means it's sucking air from somewhere. Check the muffler gasket and make sure the bolts are tight. Also, check to ensure the throttle is closing all the way when you let off the gas pedal. If it's not, you can put a small spring on it at the carb to pull it all the way closed.

Most cases the spring is gone at the carb it should be in place and may also need a cable adjustment.

Yes gaskets can also cause it.
