2001 Plastic EZ GO if I use the red putty to fill a few small scratches do I have to prime the body before I paint it?

Re: Primer?
Thanks for the reply Andy......I actually just got in from sanding the front cowling ....yes I am painting the whole body....it is removed.....I am having to sand all the way through the paint and into the plastic in order to smooth some of the scratches ...I am using an orbital with 600 grit? Also at the rear where the pan is there are two small tears...one in each corner maybe 1/2" long.....I have been looking at using the 3m epoxy adhesive....but I hate to buy so much for such a small task?
