That's def on the high side almost like they are a busy shop and don't wantto be bothered. Did they give youa breakdown of cost such as x amt for the repair and x amt for prep and then paint cost ?

Fiberglass repair is an extra few steps do do it correctly so it won't crack in the future so there is some of the addl cost compared to just prep and paint.

I would try to get a few more estimates at body shops before going the maco route since it is a cool body.

Wow, I got another estimate today for $2100! I am now seriously considering doing this by myself. What better way to get some experience and learn how to paint....O and save ton of money...

Wow...where are you getting these price quotes from FOOSE designs or Paul JR designs....I know it doesn't matter but I could have got mine painted here in Missouri for about 200 since it was just black and I was going to do the accent color. Good luck if you do it yourself...these guys here can just about walk ya through the entire process just like they are there sanding if for ya.

Lol I was thinking the same thing. Here is an example of an estimate:
Body labor: 18 hours @$44 an hour=$792.00
Paint labor: 15 hours @$44 an hour=$660.00
Paint supplies=$390
Misc. other charges=$203
Plus tax
Total=$2,155.70

I had to hold back laughing on the phone...
