Golf cart security / theft protection
I am working on converting my cart to street legal. Considering my plan is commute throughout the downtown area where I live, is there any protection available that would prevent someone stealing cart? Crime isn't neccarilly a big problem in area, but concerning if I left it vacant for a few hours considering all keys are universal as I understand..

Re: Golf cart security / theft protection
I changed my ignition to a Harley Davidson key. I leave my cart for 3-4 hours while golfing with others (depending on who's turn it is to drive) and my wife drives it everyday to work with it parked outside with no problem. Do some searching, great ideas on here!

Re: Golf cart security / theft protection
I think something like this would be best. The ignition us a simple 2 wire that can be bypassed with a jumper wire. A good hidden on off switch will work well. But I like this idea. To bad it's not cheep. http://www.golfcarcatalog.com/produc...tml?fullSite=1

Re: Golf cart security / theft protection
PLUS, you can get EZGO key switches that are NOT the standard key......but the best solution would be a combination of the two. a non standard keyed ignition switch, PLUS a hidden cut-off switch.
the switch that Tony used is really the best type for the dash, as its a BARREL key. |

Re: Golf cart security / theft protection
I think a hidden switch is the best and cheapest theft deterrent. I used it on my car for years after having it stolen from my work parking lot back in the 70's.

Re: Golf cart security / theft protection
Interesting ideas. I like the Harley barrel key ignition and hidden cut off switch combo.
Also, I don't suspect that controller/wire/etc theft would be an issue, but just curious to know if anyone is aware of a good locking mechanism for battery compartment area that can be easily locked and unlocked?? Thanks |
