Battery Level Indicator Confusion
I want to purchase the right Battery Level Indicator for my 48v and I found one I like ( because It doesn't have screws - looks slick) the problem is it has 4 pin terminals on the back while most Battery Level Indicator videos I've watched only have 3 pins. I don't want to purchase this if it won't work. This is a link to what I'm looking at purchasing...any help would be appreciated.

Question:
What is the R? Does it have to be hooked up? Answer: The R is for external devices and does not need to be connected By Mark A. Felderman on August 17, 2017 See more answers (1) |

Re: Battery Level Indicator Confusion
Those "indicators" are not very accurate, a digital voltmeter will tell you a lot more about the state of health of your batteries since you can see the real time voltage drop under load.
If You like the "looks" of that indicator, the type "E" setting will be the best for a golf cart battery. |

Re: Battery Level Indicator Confusion
Totally agree I tell people don’t bother with battery indicator. Just get a multimeter and read batteries

Re: Battery Level Indicator Confusion
So now I'm questioning myself on what I should get and it seems logical that I do want to know where my batteries are exactly after I run my cart for a while and whether or not it's time to charge the batteries. So now I'm looking at this little digital meter https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...k_ql_qh_dp_hza and because I'm not at all good with wiring, and the fact that this item comes with no instructions scares me a little. I want to hook this up so that it will work with the key switch. I know I have to run the wires to the batteries (red to positive - black to negative) but which wire do I connect to the switch? and should I also have an in-line fuse. If so, which wire should that be installed on???

Re: Battery Level Indicator Confusion
I have my two carts wired for the meter being on all the time, helps see what the charger is doing and the drain is not a problem,...

Re: Battery Level Indicator Confusion
I wouldn't buy that gauge. Over the years we have them to be very inaccurate.
