Unhappy 36v or 48v?

Hi folks! I purchased an EZGO L298 1992 golf cart. It is a 48v but when I got it, it had (6) 6v batteries in it. The charger is for a 36v as well. It ran fine until the batteries died. Now that I have replaced the batteries with (6) 8v batteries I can’t get it to function. Any idea about what could be wrong?

1992 was 36v, with the exception of a few specific work vehicles.

I didn't think ezgo even went 48v till like 2008.. and I dont think 48v will work if your solenoid and controller are 36v rated

May sound dumb but did you verify 36 or 48 on the motor tag CAUSE I AM PRETTY SURE IT WAS 2008 ALSO, UNLESS SOMEONE HAS CHANGED IT OVER

Check the solenoid and controller rating too. I don't think someone spent good money on a charger and batteries to downgrade from 48V. How did you get 48V when so far everything points to it being a 36V cart?

Also, did you get a new 48v charger for those new batteries?

I realized my charger is for 36V. As I dig deeper, it appears my cart is a 1998 not 92. I can't read the faded info on the motor label.

If you got L298 of the tag in the right glove box that would be a 98 and if stock would be 36 volts.
