Solenoid Not Clicking after installing new Batteries and new Solenoid
Hello, I recently acquired a 2006 EZ GO Txt PDS. It needed new batteries, so I went and replaced all 6. After I replaced the batteries, the solenoid wouldn’t click and I cannot get it to go into diagnostic mode. I went and bought a new solenoid..same problem. No clicking, no diagnostic mode, no nothing really. I used a multi meter and can confirm the following:
37volts from battery pack. Reed Switch is by passed and reading volts..wire is good Continuity test confirmed for on/off key switch, F/R switch, tow maintenance switch I have ordered a new resistor and diode..but I doubt that is causing the issue. I have followed the wiring diagram to a T..and am very confident I have everything wired properly. Does anyone have any suggestions on what this could be, or where I should check next? Thanks. |

Re: Solenoid Not Clicking after installing new Batteries and new Solenoid
First step is getting battery pack voltage (38.2V when fully charged) to the solenoid's small terminal with the yellow wire on it.
Attached is a drawing showing how the voltage gets from the reed switch to the solenoid coil and a drawing showing pin-1 on all the jacks. --- Get the voltage there and we'll go from there if that doesn't fix it. |

Re: Solenoid Not Clicking after installing new Batteries and new Solenoid
Just to be sure did cart run ( albeit weak)before battery install?
Do you know if cart ran before you got it and before you installed new batteries? Knowing this helps shorten troubleshooting process.😊 |

Thanks for the reply. I will get volts to the yellow wire terminal today and see what happens.
Yes, the cart was running before the battery install, just not very long. Like 2 min before it would die. |

Re: Solenoid Not Clicking after installing new Batteries and new Solenoid
I attached a separate wire from the positive small post (where the yellow wire is) directly to the battery pack positive lead post..nothing. However, I put another direct wire from the lead negative battery pack post onto the other small post on the solenoid( blue wire) and the solenoid clicked..finally. When I disconnected the direct wire to the yellow post but with the negative still connected to the blue post.. nothing. So it seems that solenoid activation posts are not getting either positive or negative charges. At least I may be getting somewhere. What would you do next?
Thanks for your help. |

Re: Solenoid Not Clicking after installing new Batteries and new Solenoid
I just did an experiment that may be of help. I connected the “blue wire” post directly to the battery pack lead negative and turned the key on. Then when I moved the direction switch to Forward..the solenoid clicked. It still won’t run when I press the pedal. But another piece to this puzzle
