Default Continued rear end noise in overrun.

I have a 2004 Ez-Go TXT 36v. On de-acceleration, it clunked but only in overrun. Apply the accelerator even the slightest and it stops. So I replaced the input shaft, bearings and oil seals. Looking at the old input shaft the gear itself didn't seem badly worn but the first ¾" of the motor end of the input shaft seems badly worn. I also cleaned out the diff and re-lubed with 30 weight and a drop of STP. Greatly quieted it down but its still making a rhythmic clunking noise in over-run. In reverse, the cart seems fine and I can not replicate the noise. I torqued the hubs to 125, they were maybe at 75 but I do not see excessive wear in the hubs Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Sorry, but what is a overrun?

De-acceleration. When the accelerator is at zero and the cart is going forward as in going down a hill

Would be typical for worn gears, when de-accelerating there is less pressure on the gears and any play inside can cause some noise. My suggestion.

Some gearboxes are just much more noisy than others. I have seen several here that are like that. If it annoys you, the only solution may be replacement.

Agree typical signs, sounds of too much clearance between gears.( too much back lash, pinion to ring gear clearance.
Gears wear over use and clearance between them becomes more, greater.
You could replace gears or somehow sim one gear closer to the other.
You may remove some noise with input shaft replacement, but if me, I would just run heavier gear oil to guilt it down.
Not really hurting anything😊

Trying heavier gear oil is a good idea. I have seen even fairly new carts with this gear noise.
