Re: Do I have a ds or iq system?
I really just plan on using it around the golf course. Maybe add a stereo to it but that's probably it. At least it was free though right??

Re: Do I have a ds or iq system?
Golf is what Regen's do best. So it should be just fine - even if you do buy batteries and you decide not to keep the cart - you can move them to a different cart so your money won't be wasted. You will need batteries to check it out. 44 volts wouldn't have hurt it, but by gum - it would be dead slow (AKA brutal).
Once the batteries are in - start a new thread and I'll give you hints what to do to ensure you have the best chance of bringing it back to life and getting the most out of it. Using the search feature on this site, look for Regen 1 articles and do some reading (ignore articles that might be bashing Regen 1). Please do & post a photo inside your battery bay. Post it at any time. From that we should be able to determine how best to proceed. BTW - I did a quick bit of googling (not a real word). Even if your controller is failed - for a quick $380 or so, you can replace it. |

For some reason I'm not getting email updates for this thread. Anyone else having this problem? First time that has ever happened to me...

Re: Do I have a ds or iq system?
I'm not getting emails about it either. I thought it was. A setting I hadn't set yet. I planned on taking pictures of the battery bay. I did find the controller and it definitely looked to be silver. It did say it was 48v and that it was a regeneration motor. Again I didn't notice a tow switch anywhere. I assume it would be pretty noticeable. I have been using a relatives ez go cart and that's about the only cart I've ever used. So all of the info you guys are giving me is tremendously helpful and appreciated.
Joesam, thank you for everything. After reading a few posts I thought I inherited a boat anchor. Ideally, I'd like to make this car last a lifetime because it was free. Hopefully I'll be able to put some batteries in her soon as it's tax season and quarterely bonus season. Do you guys think a cart could go 3ish miles and make it around 18 holes and before dying? our local golf course charges quite a bit for a cart stall and I'm just trying to be cheap I guess. |

Re: Do I have a ds or iq system?
Don't buy batteries not made for golf carts - it will never work out. They will either die young - or not make it around the course without slowing to a crawl. And non-golf batteries will suffer with the high amperage charge of a golf cart charger...maybe even get cooked. You CAN buy good used or blemish or best-before-date expired cart batteries from a REPUTABLE SELLER. But the batteries are the HEART of a golf cart. That is not the place to cut costs. I'm not getting emails either. You should start a new thread once you have a photo. We can start from there.

Re: Do I have a ds or iq system?
So I figured out that the emails for this thread were going to my Spam folder for some reason. That's the first time that has ever happened...
