No it is not sealed. Water can get in pretty quickly if it's submerged.

Like this deep?
I have driven through water to the top of the tires in the cart in the video above quite a bit and both motors survived. I wouldn't recommend it but both of those motors still run fine over a year later. |

The trick to crossing water is not to stop until your out of the water. The movement of the vehicle keeps the water deflected. Of course there are limits.

Gas carts have plenty of low end torque. They run with a variable transmission where as a sparky's torque is limited by the current available. Yes sparky's generate full torque at zero speed but with a fixed gear ratio.

And I would vote for a gasser if I was going to get it wet often.

Re: i drove my club car in water and now it wont move
If it make y'all feel better I just built a gas powered dc generator to mount under the rear seat! It puts out 10-13 amps while sitting still and 35-40 amps under full load, should extend my range a fair amount.
But I will have to remove it for the deep water driving LOL! Either that or put a snorkel on the engine. jjance, I had to let my cart sit in water over the motors for an hour once. My throttle peddle took on water and confused the controllers. I had to rig up a hand held potentiometer to drive the cart out. It did just fine being submerged for an hour or so. It drove out just fine and the motors survived. |
