Default YAmaha drive “wet brakes”

Have a Yamaha drive 09 electric model. It has the wet braking system. When I come to a stop brakes don’t work great. With a quick hard stop it sounds awful. Maybe like something grinding. Any ideas on what to do? I’m mechanical just need some help troubleshooting. Thanks in advance

You could try changing the rear end oil--it takes a special kind because of the internal brakes. Sorry, I can't be more specific.

I do know that some have replaced the entire transaxle assy for only a few hundred $ more than a shop would charge to change all of the brake parts. There's lots of parts...JW2-G6300-03-00 TRANS AXLE ASSY

Do they lock up the rear wheels?
I changed my rear fluid out with Mobil 1 synthetic rear ended fluid
