Default Transaxle brakes

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I am changing the transaxle brakes on my golf cart and wanted to know about removing the gears and bearing. I already have the axle split apart.

Default Transaxle brakes

I’m assuming you’re talking about a YDRE? If so, they should just pull straight out.

I have plenty of experience in the Team axles. I'm pretty sure this is what your asking about. (2007-2015 YDRE). Removing "the gears & bearing" is a little vague for what you want to get done. Since it's already split, you have already seen some. I'm more than happy to help, but I need more info of what exactly you want to do. "I want to change the gears & bearings" wont be a clear enough answer... more specific please.

I cant even count how many of those I have opened over the years, to do repairs, to install high speed gears, to inspect for "cause of failure", to replace brakes. (The early electric ones failed real bad, search "white tag axle").

The factory recommends 4 year axle oil changes, I say 2 years for Team axles.

Its hard to keep track of who's oil has been changed for our routine customers, some of them do not do service often enough. And anyone who bought one of those used, assume it was not changed, and it requires specific fluid. (Can easily be done from the auto parts store if you know just what you need). Not "just good old axle oil".

But, if you put the wrong stuff in there, it's not necessarily "doom", just get it out as soon as possible. I have seen "I messed up, can you fix it" jobs come out just fine.

Thank you all for answering... I havethethe friction discs and steel disks that I have to change didn't know if anything special about pulling the bearing and gears out of the way. I once they are pulled does thw brake pack simply pull out are more bolts or something have to come out?

Just lift the ring gear out, the basket & spiders will come with it.

Yes, there are more bolts underneath, and your gonna love them. Only use a good quality tool to remove them. If you strip them, your gonna have a bad time.

Thank you again for the help. I will take pictures and post them. This is the first time I have ever tried this. And getting to this point want too bad. I as a little surprised at at how heavy that transaxle is. I would guess 100 pounds or so.i coyld barely pickitup and set it on the tailgate of my truck. I will have help when I go to reassemble to the golf cart.
