Ezgo Workhorse brake hub

Good day i have a Ezgo Workhorse i bought a couple weeks ago.Bought it from my campgrounds the brake hub was stripped out so it would not move.Over the past few years i know they have changed this a few times,now i did is there a reason this keeps happening?
