2001 Gas EZGO Workhorse ST350

New to all of this so here it goes..........Bought my buggy with no spark, they said they couldn't get it running. I downloaded the manuals and rewired it, they had a ground wire going to the hot side of the solenoid. The solenoid is new, the coil is new, (by the person i purchased from) i put a new carb on it, a new fuel pump on it, and a new ignitor on it thinking this may be the problem. She runs and fires up but doesn't get up to full speed and she throws a little white smoke. Any ideas what to do next? Compression test? I'm afraid that i'm gonna blow it up.....also not sure if having the ground from the CDI to the solenoid damaged anything else......
