I hate to dig up an old post (not really) but did this fix your problem? My dads 94 makes a loud noise under any kind of load (accel, up hills, etc) but it goes away on deceleration.

It wasn't a problem on my cart it was on a friends cart he ended up taking it to the shop before I had a chance to even really look into it for him he got it back and it isn't making the noise now not sure exactly what the shop did
