Default Trying to breath life into a g1

Hi to all and thanks in advance

I'm working with g1 not sure of year as I can not find any numbers on frame.
I would like to know if there is a way to test fuel pump, oil pump, and crankcase seals? also is there a check for reed valves?
I managed to make it run but it is very hard starting then it runs about 50-100 feet and dies and will not start. After cranking for a while and playing with the choke it will fire up again and do the same thing

Again all help is welcome and thanks again

Hi there I dont know how to test the oil pump or fuel pump but you can test the seals by jacking the rear wheels off the ground and have someone crank the engine while you spray carb spray in behind the engine clutch towards the engine. And do the other side also if the engine guns up and starts real easy then your seals are bad.

to test the fuel pump take the line off at the carb and turn the motor over and it should spew fuel out. I dont trust the oil injection (due to the fact mine quit and i had to rebuild my engine) so i just premix my own

That sounds like bad seals, also had one the piston was cracked and did that. Also check your compression if low it will never run that well....way better off to determine year and slip a bored jug and new piston on it it will run like new if your seals/etc are good.

Some have the numbers on the frame the rear crossbar, you have to climb under the hood with it up on the rear side stamped into frame bar, hard to see and painted over. Could see it easy if you could open the bagwell.

It can be here or on the other side in the same place--it's hard to see

Mine had it on the passenger side, on a round frame tube above and behind the trans iirc, under the body could not see from outside.
