Re: 1982 g1 project
NEW IDEA:
so i have been trying to find a place to bbq our muffler but since we live on the golf course its a little difficult but had the idea to leave the muffler on and use a blow torch to just heat up the end tip of the muffler to burn the oil build up. so we tryed it and it seemed to work good, the only thing we wer worried about is the smoke getting into the cylinder so we took the tube off the oil mixer sensor so if the smoke came out the hole then we knew to start the engine for a second to push the smoke through the muffler, we started the engine for a sec probably every minute so not to fill the whole muffler with smoke. so here are some pics this one shows the blow torch inside the tip of the muffler some of the smoke from the oil the opening from the oil mixer sensor so after the whole thing we put the tube back on and took it for probably a 45 minute drive and where as before it would of made a smoke screen there was only a small amount of visible smoke when u stopped. as for the performance the mid range had a lot more power and the top speed was between 18.5 and 19 i am still going to do the bbq when i have the chance but it only took around 20 minutes and was a good temporary fix. just be careful not to get smoke in the engine because im sure thats not good for it hope this helps atleast one person but even if it doesnt atleast it helped me a lot |

Re: 1982 g1 project
ya we kept feelin the manifold where it goes into the engine and it didnt really get hot. and i mean its something that probably isnt the best thing for it but i mean neither is 28 years of oil buildup of a 50:1 ratio so i mean until i actually bbq it i think it worked pretty good :-p
