stray voltage from cart chassis

in trying to hook up brakelights in my txt/pds i found approx 9 volts hot if the negative probe of multimeter was connected to the neg side of the pair of 6 volts i'm using for 12v and the positive probe touched any part of the cart chassis? thought I was crazy..tried the same thing on my neighbors cart and he had near 6 volts running in chassis..whats up? is this why i blew a control box?

I found out where the stray voltage was coming from but don't know why. I had hooked all my 12v stuff through a 12v marine battery riding beside the 36 volt pack. then to avoid having 2 chargers I joined the 12 v aux battery to two of the 36 v pack. worked fine for months...but i did just blow a control box. so now i separated the 12 v system totally = no stray voltage. Anyone know why one can't insert a 12v battery into the 36 v bank (assuming the connections are correct for polarity and voltage)?

You're creating an unbalance in your pack. Current by the accessories is being drawn from the 12v battery and the 2 pack batteries.

What's the point. If you're going to use an aux battery...keep it separated.

thanks for reply..yeah i saw your post today in other thread..thanks for answer..i added another deep cycle marine and their own separte 12 v charger to it. didn't know or understand the imbalance problem. thx

If th extra aux battery is causing you a charging hassle, get a solar charger for it. I haven't touched my aux battery in months and the solar charger stays on the cart and looks pretty neat.
