What if the amperage draw that enables a fire to start is less than the 400 amp fuse protecting the system affords?

If the amperage draw is less than the fuse rating a fire can start.
When the wires/cables/components melt and cause a direct short, the fuse will blow.

Then you replace your burnt components and you don't have to replace your fuse.... See my latest post in the Fire Thread... Alltrax finds it interesting the fuse blew.

I found that curious too, the whole reason I started questioning this fuse thing was I have not seen a 400a blown before? But I'm pretty careful with my crowbars and wrenches

I know this is a real old thread, but can a 400amp fuse hurt anything? I see Scotty's point that it may not blow in time, may being the key word here.

Millions of golf carts have been produced every year for decades which have no main battery fuse installed. Alltrax is the only speed control manufacture I know of who insists we use one. If this is a problem surely there would be more widespread use of the main fuse?
Do I need a main fuse on my cart? I just ordered a bunch of stuff from you. Thought I ordered a main fuse but turns out I bought two fuse panels. I'm fully upgraded. Fsip, f/r contractor, 400 amp solonoid, rattlesnake 2. Motors in the way. Nothing on My cart heats up under normal operation
