Thicker Windshield Frame
I have 1" tube steel for the back roof frame, but only 3/4" for the front roof frame. Does anyone offer 1" for the front? I have a stereo console that's too heavy for the 3/4", and my windshield clip holder is for a 1" frame.
I have a 1998 EZ-Go TXT. thanks Adam |

Re: Thicker Windshield Frame
I doubt a thicker tube would mate up to the front roof channel. That 3/4" tubing is pretty strong. Just how heavy is this console?

Re: Thicker Windshield Frame
Several issues.
I have a ton of wires going through the front roof struts, and didn't think I'd be able to fish any more through them. I did. The windshield that came with my buggy is made for 1" tube steel, while I only have 3/4", so I had to fabricate spacers using panduit. Finally, I have already added 1-1/4" angle to the top of the roof to resolve nuisance squeaking due to excessive bouncing caused by the stereo console. I also added cross members, and through bolted the roof to them, which is going to help with excessive roof sagging over the console. It took a couple of years to sag, so I'm slowly tightening the through bolts. A couple of days in the sun will help soften it. In any event, I've solved the problem a different way. |

Re: Thicker Windshield Frame
None besides:
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...-question.html Updates may be a little slower now that the weekend's over. Gotta work. Answering a previous question, it is a car stereo with car stereo speakers. However, I lined the whole thing with dense, self-adhesive 1/2" felt, for rock solid bass, with no vibration. The felt is pretty heavy. The most annoying thing is the squeaking due to the roof rocking front and back while driving like a maniac down our gravel trails. My "luggage rack" seems to have stiffened the thing quite a bit. The front strut is a single piece of tube steel. The rear struts are two pieces. Now all of them are firmly tied to 1-1/4" angle. |
