Default Overkill or Not

I lost some batteries two years ago, due to freezing. I thought about someone's suggestion about removing the batteries and bringing them inside- Dr then Son and wife put a kabash on that I think My wife snitched to the Dr- You see I have dislocated Right shoulder 5 times, have a complete tear of the left rotator cuff and pull collarbone out of my sternum so thats is not going to happen.

Friday afternoon, my neighbor and I were having a beer and were talking about helping batteries in the Winter. he would stick a lightbulb under his hood, in a work light and plug it in everynight.

I have taken this a step further- If I put one or two Work Light on a timer, and build a small enclosure out of Foam back board under the cart- to keep wind off the lights and batteries- something like a giant shoe box- it seems it was the two outside batteries on each side that froze last time

I got 6 big Political foam board signs this past weekend, from Freecycle.
3 feet by 6 feet.

If I put the Work light or lights under the buggy, with the light or lights and then a Foam board right under the seat on a timer- that will help somewhat wouldn't it?

I can have the Charger on a timer also to keep the batteries up and warm?

we usually only have about a month of below 20 weather here and I have tarps to cover the buggy and hopefuly keep snow, ice off of the cart-
batteries are charged and ready to go right now- just want to protect the batteries as much as possible- 8 times about 90 is just something that I dont mind doing every 4-5 years, but not every year

thanks
Chris

PS I have a wire storage area on top of the cart- its not easy to get to or store things up there- Is there any reason to keep it or to take it off?

You could possibly also rig up something like this around the batteries if you wanted to be for sure......http://www.lowes.com/pd_23997-72436-...ape&facetInfo=

I wonder if the heat would attract mice? They'd probably love it!
