The pot should put out 0-5k within the range of your carts accelerator linkage throw at the pot arm..... in same words = if the pot arm moves 2 or even 3 inches with the gas peddle then that is where and when you should be reading 0-5k or dang close.
As for slow reverse, check the 1/2 speed reverse option. Is it connected? Disconnect it from the F&R reverse microswitch and tape it up & out the way.

Thanks scotty once again we have a better understanding of how this cart seems to work, for anyone changing there pot themselves u need a 25k shortshaft pot ,dont know how the market is for these ezgo parts in usa but in canada we have no means of ordering these parts anywhere one must think ouside the box once again scotty thanks , thanks Johnnie b also you guys are a great help i took the for sale sign off the cart once again LOL
