Default 2006 Precedent super jerky when trying to move slow

I recently replaced the factory controller with an Alltrax 500 amp controller because I shorted out the old one. First off, I have to push the pedal down half way before any response. Secondly, when it does start moving and you try to creep at low speed it is super jerky. It is awesome once I get over 5-7 mph.

I have read a lot of the threads on here and it seems that indicates an MCOR problem. Also, this seems to be fairly common.

Any thoughts?

I think you should make sure the controller is setup properly. I had to tweak mine several times before I got it right, and it is still a little more jerky than with stock controller. Here are some old threads on mine that might help.

Thread: Alltrax DCX500 w/ D&D 502:2 Programming Question
Talks about the custom hex file to make sure you are getting full throttle

Thread: Alltrax Controller Programming for Precedent
Talks about the settings I had used. Update:
1. Do not change the custom curve as I did at that time - you'll lose speed
2. Lower your throttle up rate - that should help reduce jerkiness
3. Try different settings and run the cart - you can do this while the programmer is attached

You will need a laptop, a USB to serial connection (radioshack) and download the Alltrax Controller Pro software. It works great! Hope this helps.

PS. Can someone explain how to copy a thread link so you just have to click it? I have not been able to figure this out.

You will also see in one of those threads where I also thought I had an MCOR issue and tried that route - It was not the problem.

Make sure you have the correct throttle curve from Alltrax. When you look at the monitor software, it will be marked Custom. Second, the throttle up rate will control just how quick it reacts to you pressing down on the accelerator. the higher the number, the more jerky it will be. Mine responds pretty well with the throttle up rate set at 4 or 5 and the throttle down rate set to twice the throttle up rate. Hope this helps.

I 2nd lgbarne's thoughts. We are have this issue alot with Precedents and it always turns out to be a dirty or bad MCOR. Pull pedal assembly, remove MCOR, clean (we use wd40, and reassemble.

Jason,

Once I get the MCOR out, how exactly do you recommend cleaning it?
