Default PDS mystery

I've got an 08 pds that has been bulletproof until today. Batteries are 2 years old and charge to 38 volts. I charged it last night and washed off the batteries this morning. Used it for 20 minutes on flat ground at 1/2 throttle and parked it (key off and f/r in neutral). Six hours later it wouldn't move. No clicking from the solenoid but the reverse alarm and lights worked. A quick look didn't show anything loose and I was going to put it away until tomorrow. I tapped on the controller cover and still nothing so I put it in forward (still no clicking) and started pushing it into the barn. There were 4 quick beeps and when I quit pushing and moved the F/R switch back and forth I now had clicking noises. Now it works perfectly and I ran it for 10 minutes with no problems.

Is there something I need to be checking or should I not worry unless it happens again?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You need to put the cart in TOW mode before you push it. The beeps may not be related to it working again you could be having a bad connection in the F&R toggle or an intermittent solenoid activation.
This is a big field that can only be troubleshot when it is not working.

Like Scotty said, you can only troubleshoot it when it isn't working, but you can do a little preventative maintenance that might accidentally cure the problem.

Pull J-1, J-3 & J-4, spray both plugs and jacks with contact cleaner and reconnect while still damp a couple times.

If and when cart misbehaves again, try pushing pedal rapidly several times.
There is a little spring in the throttle microswitch that actually closes the NC contacts when the pedal is pushed and after four years of use, it might be getting weak, or the switch might be getting gummed up in the poorly sealed box under the floor.

BTW: I also think an '08 PDS is a nice cart.

Preventative and preventive are both accepted terms. Since I don't preventate problems, I chose the latter term.

When I don't fumble-finger the keyboard, I do too.

Thanks everyone. I'll check the connections and see if I notice anything.

We've had this one a little over a year and it's been a lot of fun.

Thanks again.
