Unhappy Wiring for 97 ez-go electric

Had a friend replace my batteries and ended up with a light blue #8 or #6 wire with a ring connector. Get a beep tone when placed in reverse and cart doesn't go. I think it may be the Negative lead but would like confirmation before I hook it up. It was fine before he changed the batteries. I think he got confused. Thanks for any help. Vince

Welcome to BGW

Is this a DCS or PDS cart? run/tow switch. Forward and reverse on the dash? if so the small blue wire should be the neg - on the small post on the solenoid, is there a small post on the solenoid with NO wire??

and if it is a PDS cart with a RUN/TOW switch on the controller cover.....whatever you do, do NO wiring (install or disconnecting) until you place the cart in TOW.

if your F&R in on the face of the front seat in the center.....you have a RUN/TOW switch.....and your cart is a DCS, otherwise something is missing!

EzGo website doesn't find L1597 code. If the 97 part is right it will be 1997 model.

I am missing something. Couldn't it be a series cart.

Tow run switch is under the seat passenger side on the black controller cover I think.
Mine is series so I may be wrong.

Gr8Actor, where is the F&R Switch, I mean is there a Toggle on the dash, or a Lever on the front of the seat by tour right knee?

if the stock controller cover is in place, its on it. Look at the picture above....the picture right above the controller is a pic of the controllers cover, and on the righthand side, just below the "WARNING" is the Run/Tow switch.

Gr8Actor check your tag for date again and let us know if L1597 is correct
