36v motor vs rewound 48v motor

I am trying to figure out the theory in elec motors. Let me warn you, I am very slow on electrical matters.
My question is when D&d, emp, etc rewind motors are they using the same principal as overvolting a motor. ie 36v to 48v? Which would be better for battery life and motor longevity, and controller a rewind or 36v motor.

Hey Mike - A rewind is going to have a fresh bearing and brushes. A 36v motor is going to have some wear on it unless you get a new one.
