wiring horn through existing steering column?
I just got in a new steering wheel and realize it has a horn button, can I run the wires up the existing column or do I need to get the chrome column cover to hide the wires?

Re: wiring horn through existing steering column?
You are gonna have to put a horn button on the dash or on the floorboard like an old car. The columns are solid so you cant run a wire thru them. - Mayor

Re: wiring horn through existing steering column?
Can you post a pic of the bottom of the steering wheel? Did it come with an adapter that slides over and clamps to the steering column? What I'm trying to see is if your wheel has two copper (or brass) rings around the bottom of the wheel, and if you got an adapter that has two small brushes that will ride on the copper/brass strips on the wheel.

Re: wiring horn through existing steering column?
Somebody asked this same question once recently and it was a no. The wheel can turn at least one turn in each direction, so the wires would just get twisted up...

. . . put the horn button on the floor in an area accessible by the left foot . . like the "old" high beam button . . . (showing my age) . . .
