Re: Locked up 36 volt motor.
One more question. When you try to drive it can you feel any torque bump or movement when you press the throttle or is it just dead?

Dead. All of the other times, dead, until I free it up. Then runs beautiful.

Re: Locked up 36 volt motor.
Any chance the wires on the brushes could be loose, or worn brushes.

Re: Locked up 36 volt motor.
Well, I pulled the motor off. It was locked up tight. I was able to free it up, working it back and forth with channel lock pliers. I think MrGolf might be onto something because it feels like it's dragging on the brushes. I'll take it to my electric motor guy and I'll report what he says. BTW, '94 cart with control box. No resistor coils. Thank you all.

Re: Locked up 36 volt motor.
Gotta be brushes, or possibly the bearing in the end cap is shot. I cut my teeth on the system that's in that cart - the 3 possibilities for most any problem are solenoid, controller, and motor, pretty much in that order. Never had much motor trouble myself but this one sounds like that's for sure what it is.
BTW - The 36 volt controller setup is somewhat of a rarity from CC, they only made it in 93 and 94. |
