Throttle cuts out while driving
My customized 48 volt series cart just started doing something out of the ordinary. The throttle will cut out while under power, then when the throttle is pumped will reenergize and start moving again. In other words you are driving along and then the power cuts out and when the throttle is engaged again it will start moving again. Sometimes it will occur several times in a day, sometimes only once or twice. What do I need to replace? Thanx very much!

Can't tell without knowing year or even better, what type of accelerator? V-Glide, MCOR, Pot Box?

Re: Throttle cuts out while driving
Just built another buggie,a 2008 EZ GO TXT . It is currently a 36 volt system, with 23 inch tires, lift, Navitas 440 controller and 400 amp solenoid, 2 Gauge wiring. Thinking of converting to a 48 volt system to obtain more power / longer run time to compensate for the oversized tires, etc. Can I just switch out the batteries for 6 8 volt batteries , new charging port and charger?. The Navitas controller is rated for 48 volts, and the rest of the system should handle the amperage , should it not? What am I missing?
Thanks very much for the input. |

Re: Throttle cuts out while driving
If the controller works with 48 volts then yes u can swap the batteries out for 8 volts. Obviously u need a 48 volt charger but the charging port doesn't need to be changed. If u buy or have a lester summit charger they can be fitted with whatever charging port/cord u have. Most chargers can be fitted with a cord that matches ur charging port.
I upgraded my 36 volt club car ds to 48 volts and I kept the original crows foot charging port. I bought lester summit charger with the crows foot 2 prong plug and it works great. The summit charger is the probably the best charger and u can buy any type of charger cord for it. Cords can be easily changed in a few minutes so u can charge multi different golf carts with 1 charger if u have the different charger plugs. |

Re: Throttle cuts out while driving
Do you have an HD forward/reverse switch for the 48v? If not, make the 48v an IQ cart and switch it out. More reliable and easier to install. Call Dave at Revolution carts. He's got everything you need and will send the correct parts.

Otherwise, everything else should handle 48v fine. |
