1993 CC DS upgrade

So to start, my wife tells me that a heavy purple box just showed up on the porch and I'm stuck at work right now

I'm upgrading my 36V resistor cart with the following:

conversion kit
500 amp controller
HD solenoid
HD F/R

Everything is already wired up I just gotta drop in that purple bundle of joy this evening. I'm gonna run it on 36V with 6 gauge cables to start and hope to see a significant speed increase as it was only getting 10-12 mph on the crappy iPhone GPS app.

I plan on going to 48v and 2 gauge cables (maybe this freaking weekend if the boss lady will let me drop some more coin on this thing). Now my question. Has anyone run 48v to a 36V PQ Bandit?

I've read plenty of posts about putting 48V to a standard 36V motor but what should I expect from a 36V Bandit?

Got the Bandit installed and she now does 18 mph and jumps off the line with controller acceleration tweaked. Great improvement over 10 mph considering I only get 37.71v after charging it up. guess its time to replace. Is there a suggested replacement voltage or do you simply go off performance?

I can't wait to see what happens when I go to 48v and 2 gauge cables!!!

Stock brakes work good after sanding drums and cleaning internals just creak/squeak kinda loud when stopping fast. any suggestions on how to quite them down a bit?

I ran my 36v motor with 48v upgrade for 4 years with no problem. It would run ~22mph on flat ground. My motor is in the mail from PQ should have it prob Monday or Tuesday. They called yesterday saying it was being shipped back!!!
I also upgraded from 4awg to 2awg while motor is out to make sure I have no wire problems.
I'm now probably going to have to add disk brakes to stop this thing because it is probably going to run ~30mph!!

So how did the PQ motor work out? That's a 36v motor on 48v yeah?

Worked out fine. I told the PQ guys it was a 36v motor I'm running on 48v solid state upgrade. Weird thing was I only got a couple more MPH over the stock. I'm checking to see if I have dragging brakes or if I have a flaky cell on a battery. Just think I should have more speed & torque over the stock.

My pack seems to be reading similar to others out there when stepping on it.

I have a 700amp controller, Jakes a-arm lift and 22-10-10 tires and get more speed than that. Don't know the size of your tires, but that and the controller might explain it. Why is that not fast enough, though?

I just upgraded my battery pack to 48v today and after a first charge I was impressed by the increase in torque and take-off!!! I will be certain to follow proper break in procedures to get these babies humming

I got up to 22 mph on flat (iphone app but felt much faster!) and think it should improve as the pack breaks in. Hit 26 downhill and wouldn't want to go much faster, especially with a 3 year old on board. It did seem to have power cutting off intermittenly when flying downhill??? With no plug braking on the cart, is this the controller limiting current at high speeds??? Anything I should check out or keep an eye on? Maybe I need to bump up the cables from 4 ga to 2 ga?

Had to go with smaller street tires (20"), my course no longer allows offroad tires

Well worth the upgrades over stock resistors and 36v. Was getting 10 mph on 23" tires and I may swap them back to do a quick speed check.

Your results seem similar to mine. the more I run around, the more I'm liking the Bandit.
What kind of controller do you have? Have you checked the settings? There may be something in the settings limiting the speed. Not sure about that as I can't remember all the different options.

It's a FSIP 500 amp. I've got the current output set at maximum. May have just been a first run glitch.

I'll get a few more runs/charges under my belt and see if it persists.
