2010 Precedent Excel brakes
What brake kit will fit? I put on a 6" Jakes double a arm with 23 in tires, new motor and controller, now I need something to stop it. Any ideas?

Re: 2010 Precedent Excel brakes
Im very curious about these mechanical disk brakes. Though i have some general questions... i too have just done a lift, with bigger rims and tires. I have noticed that my brakes probably need adjusted, and or shoes replaced. But i was just curious how many people that have lifted carts upgrade their brakes to something like these? And was it worth the $250 upgrade... or could properly adjusted drums with new pads do just as well?

Re: 2010 Precedent Excel brakes
stopping power is very important as we are around lots of animals and children at our camp ground, so it was worth the cost to me. Drums are good if properly adjusted but if you add things like bigger tires, rear seat, more passengers, etc stopping power decreases.

The mechanicals are good but can be noisy. If you have the Jakes lift the spindles should be set up for their hydraulic disc kit for the front

Do I need a brake kit or can I just replace the pads?

Re: 2010 Precedent Excel brakes
I dont have the motor upgrade... my cart goes about 20-ish, but i think the moving of the cables during lift install gets your brakes out of adjustment. I went through the same thing and was about to replace my pads. But after pulling the drums they were fine... almost new looking. Then problem was they were out of adjustment. Just pull the drums and adjust the little roller at the bottom. You may need a flat screw driver to lift the locking pin if you go too far. Just make it so they feel like they drag slightly by hand. I did this and i got all my brake pedal pressure back and it stops well. I can almost lock up the tire at speed.
Also, they are self adjusting so you should be able to just go in reverse a slam on the brake a few times to tighten them up on their own. Its not hard to adjust by hand, plus you will want to see what condition your shoes are in anyway. |

Full throttle in reverse and lock the brakes up. Do it 3 times in a row and your brakes should self adjust.

I am very happy with the Ausco disc brake setup that I installed on 2008 Club Car Precedent. A great improvement over stock. Well worth the investment to me.
