Default How Far Can I Travel

Just for the heck of it I was trying to calculate how far my 2002 48 volt series cart will travel. I am sure it is not as simple as I have made it.

Starting Voltage 51.5
Ending Voltage 50.8
Volts consumed .70
Miles traveled 4.7
Feet traveled per .10 of a volt 3,545
50% state of charge voltage 48.41
Voltage available 51.5-48.41=3.09
31*3,545= 20.8 miles (approximately) that can be traveled

So I should not travel more than 10 miles from home if I want to get back.

I know temperature is a factor and probably voltage consumption probably is not linear. But is this somewhere close?

Lot's of people out there smarter than me concerning this.

Also consider weight, hills or anything to put a load on the batteries.

You got that right CTD!

I have johnnieb's spread sheet so I'll plug in some numbers.

So, I get: AH used=25.5
AH /mile=5.4

Calculations say: 15.7 miles to 50% state of charge remaining at 50° F
19.6 miles to 50% sate of charge remaining at 80° F

You didn't state AH at 20 hours of the batteries. Would be nice to know. I assumed 170AH (T875s or equivalent).

Last time I checked my cart I was using 2.5AH per mile. Yours is twice as much.
Since your in Fla I'll assume flat so not hills causing this. I have some questions if you want to pursue this further.

This is the math. Use it to estimate only. Real world could be quite different.
